Welcome to Oe Lutheran Church!
Oe Lutheran Church (Ruteru Oe Kyokai) is a Lutheran Protestant Christian church that began its missionary work in 1921 as the Church of Kyushu-Gakuin Lutheran School. It serves as a ‘town church’ in the bustling cultural and educational district of Oe, home to historic sites such as the ‘Oe Gijuku’ private school founded by the Christian journalist Soho Tokutomi, as well as a high school, a university and a theatre. In 2021, the church celebrated the 100th anniversary of its missionary work.
